Volvo 1.8 Part 1 - Gutting the box

1. ECU from e-bay

This is a Volvo ECU, which we will be chopping up in this guide. However, any 55-pin ECU box will do.  Talking it apart is much the same.

 2. Prise back the metal tabs on the back of the box, and remove all screws & plastic clips.

3. Use a dremel cutting wheel to remove the PCB. Be carefull not to chop off the plastic lugs that holds the 55-pin socket to the base.

 

4. Cut off the remianing PCB by slicing the pins with the dremel wheel.

 

 

 5. Cut off the raised area shown (if present).  You may need to file it down to remove any sharp edges.
