DIYEFI.co.uk Multi-IO BoardFrom $1Table of contents
Features:
Description:This board has was designed for converting vehicles using the Motronic 1.3 system to Megasquirt. It's specifically designed for incorporating inside the Motronic case. See Guide.
Installation Notes:No heatsink is required for the power transistors, but it's essential the metal tabs are isolated from ground. Isolating pads are supplied with the board. It is important to connect this board to a 12v supply when in use, preferably on the same switch circuit of the Idle Control Valve, or at the very least from the vehicles ignition. The DME relay output on Motronic systems, is ideal. Make sire the board is properly grounded. This is normally done through the case mounting.
Idle Control Valve:Connect the Fidle output from the Megasquirt board (Pin 30) directly to the Fidle pin on the IO board. The center pin on the Idle Control Valve, should have 12v connected to it. This is usually switched on with the ignition, or at the same time the fuel pump is running. It is important that the IO board, is supplied +12v for Idle control operation. Failing to do so, may damafe the components. ICV#1 and ICV#2 are connected either side if the Idle Control Valve (12V on the center pin). In the case of the Motronic connector, thats
Boost Control (where fitted):This is used to control the boost pressure from a turbo via a fast acting valve on the waste gate. See Megasquirt manuals for more details.
TachometerThe tachometer driver is necessary when multiple coil drivers are used (e.g. wasted spark). Megasquirt provides a dedicated tachometer output, and with a sutable driver can be connected to your tachometer. On MS1, the output is typically JS0 and on MS2, JS10. Shift LightsMS1 can control 3 sets of lights (high, med, low), and MS2 two sets of lights (med, and low). Relay/Auxiliay outputsThe auxiliary outputs can control relays (e.g. a fan), or an indicator (e.g. Warmup mode LED).
